Werner Arndt (Mayor)
Werner Arndt (born March 6, 1960 in Marl ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is the full-time mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Marl.
Life
After training as a power system electronics technician at the Schlägel & Eisen colliery of Ruhrkohle AG (RAG), Werner Arndt worked there in shaft 8 in underground operations. After further education at the Hans-Böckler-Kollegschule Marl , he did community service at the Erlöserkirche in Marl- Brassert and then studied social sciences at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg . After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher for educational institutions at the University of Duisburg, the Volkshochschule Niederrhein, the Evangelical Educational Institute in Duisburg and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .
Since 1989 he has been a member of the Marl City Council, from 1994 to 2009 as full-time parliamentary group manager and head of the social committee. In between, he was bureau chief of the German MPs Waltraud Lehn , the directly elected representatives of the constituency Recklinghausen II - Borken I was.
Werner Arndt is married and has three children.
Mayor's office
On August 30, 2009 Werner Arndt was elected full-time mayor of the city of Marl with 32.4 percent of the valid votes, as the successor to Uta Heinrich ( CDU , non-party, BUM). In 2014, Arndt was re-elected in a runoff election with 64.4 percent of the valid votes. He is the first mayor of Marl, who was also born in Marl.
