Werner Böhmer

Werner Böhmer (born March 11, 1915 in Siegen ; † June 11, 2014 in Munich ) was a German lawyer. From 1965 to 1983 he was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court .

Life

Werner Böhmer studied law , philosophy and history in Munich and Freiburg. After he was temporarily banned from studying in 1936, he passed the two state law exams in 1944 and 1948.

After completing his doctorate (dissertation on legal and material defects liability when a contribution in kind is made in a general partnership ), he entered the Bavarian civil service.

In 1957 Böhmer was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court.

From February 10, 1965 until he left the service on July 5, 1983, he was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court. During his membership in the Federal Constitutional Court, he was a member of the first Senate. Within the court, he was regarded as a specialist with regard to the property guarantee of Art. 14 GG. In particular, he was involved in the wet gravel decision BVerfGE 58, 300 - 1 BvL 77/78, which was announced in July 1981 and which has shaped the discussion on state liability law to the present day.

Since 1979 Böhmer was also a professor at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer .

In 1968 Werner Böhmer was awarded the 1st Class Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany , and in 1983 the Great Cross of Merit with Star and Shoulder Ribbon.

He last lived with his wife in Munich.
