Werner Georg Doerflinger (* 2. October 1940 in Tiengen ) is a German politician of the CDU .

Life

Dörflinger attended elementary school and the commercial college . This was followed by an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk , which he concluded in 1958 with the clerk's examination. He worked in his profession from 1958 to 1962 and then moved to Südkurier as an editor from 1962 to 1975 . From 1975 he was first alderman with the official title of "mayor" of the large district town of Waldshut-Tiengen . He held this office until 1983. He is a Roman Catholic , married and has three children. His son Thomas was also a member of the Bundestag from 1998 to 2017.

In addition to his political party involvement, he has been active since 1988 as President of the German-American Society and as Chairman of the Caritas Association Hochrhein .

Dörflinger joined the CDU in 1961 and was chairman of the Waldshut district association of the Junge Union for ten years . Within the parent party he was deputy from 1967 to 1991 and chairman of the Waldshut district association from 1991 to 1993. At the federal level, he was the chairman of the CDU specialist committee "Town and Housing Construction" within the CDU.

At the local level , he was elected to the Tiengen City Council in 1965 and confirmed in 1971. In 1975 he moved into the council of the newly formed town of Waldshut-Tiengen. Since 1994 he has been a member of the city council again. From 1989 to 1994 he was a member of the Waldshut district council and has been a member of the regional association assembly Hochrhein-Bodensee since 1989 .

From November 4, 1980 to October 26, 1998, he was a member of the German Bundestag for five electoral terms . He was elected for the CDU through the direct mandate in the Baden-Württemberg constituency of Waldshut . In the Bundestag he was chairman of the committee for regional planning, building and urban development since February 1992 . He was also a deputy member of the Committee on Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the Committee on Tourism and Tourism .

Honor

Dörflinger was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1991 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2000.
