W. Geissler (Werry)

Werner Geissler (artist name: Werry) (born April 13, 1925 in Düren ; † June 19, 2000 ibid) was a German magician , inventor, manufacturer and dealer of magic articles, author and publisher and educator of psi phenomena .

Life

Geissler was born in Düren as the son of a tiled stove maker from Thuringia . His interest in magic began when he saw a manipulator at a fair when he was twelve . After the Second World War , his father's workshop was destroyed and Werner Geissler took up the profession of magician in 1948, now he called himself “Werry”. In 1949 Werry met Theo Wolf (Torry) and began performing with him. Later they founded a magic device factory, in which Werry mainly produced his own inventions . To this end, he trained in several areas: he learned the printing trade and continued his education in the field of thermoforming and injection molding technology . Werry acquired several injection molding machines with which he mass-produced magic tricks out of plastic. Many of the tricks invented by Werry have been copied many times.

Since 1974 Werry had devoted himself to the fight against charlatanism in magic. He fought against people and principles who wanted or should give the impression of supernatural miracles. He uncovered the tricks of Uri Geller and then launched an awareness campaign against PSI media, which led to a lengthy article in the magazine Der Spiegel . On television he performed some Geller effects and other inexplicable feats to educate the audience.

Throughout his life he was considered an expert in the elucidation of supernatural abilities and psi phenomena .
