Werner Hamel

Werner Hamel (born February 9, 1911 , † July 25, 1987 ) was a German hockey player .

Werner Hamel played for the Berlin HC . The striker made his debut in 1932 in the German national hockey team . At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, five players from the Berliner HC, Alfred Gerdes , Werner Hamel, Erwin Keller , Herbert Kemmer and Heinz Schmalix, were part of the German squad. All five Berliners also played in the final, including Hamel, who had previously only played in one game but scored a goal there against Afghanistan. The Indians, who were considered unbeatable at the time, won the final with 8: 1. Werner Hamel played a total of twelve international matches from 1932 to 1937.
