Werner Handrick

Werner Reinhard Handrick (born November 13, 1939 in Dauban , Oberlausitz ; † July 8, 2018 in Leipzig ) was a German pediatrician and microbiologist .

Career

Handrick studied human medicine in Leipzig between 1958 and 1964 . After receiving his doctorate, he was an assistant at the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Epidemiology at the University of Leipzig from 1964 to 1970 . In 1970 he passed the specialist examination for microbiology, and in 1975 that for paediatrics. From 1970 to 1979 he was head of the bacteriological laboratory at the University Children's Clinic in Leipzig , where he set up the department for pediatric infectious diseases in the clinic with a focus on neonatal infections. In 1982 he was appointed senior physician, and in 1984 he was qualified to teach pediatrics. From 1994 to 2001 he was an adjunct professor for paediatrics and neonatology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig. Since 2001 he has been a scientific advisor at the Institute for Medical Diagnostics Oderland in Frankfurt an der Oder .
