Werner Haupt (table tennis player)
Werner Haupt (born June 9, 1934 in Frankfurt am Main , † June 17, 1999 ) was a German table tennis player and official. He was also professionally involved in motorcycle racing.

Main was left-handed. He played for the club Eintracht Frankfurt , with whom he became German runner-up in 1957. In Germany Cup he won in 1953 with the Hessian team. In 1956 he was used twice in international matches. In February he won against Italy in Koblenz, but he also lost a game. In April he was undefeated against Belgium in Lüneburg. At the 1959 World Cup in Dortmund, he competed in individual competitions, but did not come close to medal ranks.

After the end of his active career, Haupt took on supervisory and functionary activities. He was in charge of the German men's team at the 1969 World Cup , where they were runner-up. From 1965 to 1975 he worked on a voluntary basis on the board of the German Table Tennis Association DTTB , initially as an assessor in the sports committee, from 1971 as a sports warden. In the Hessian table tennis association HTTV he acted from 1976 as deputy chairman, from 1978 to 1979 as first chairman.
Haupt trained as a publishing clerk. He earned his living from 1976 to 1998 as managing director of the Supreme Motorcycle Sports Commission in Germany . In addition, he was honorary president of the Finance Committee of the Motorcycle World Federation from 1984 to 1998 . In March 1999 he became Vice President and Treasurer of the German Motorsport Association .
On June 17, 1999 Werner Haupt collapsed while playing tennis and died. He was married with a daughter and a son.
