Werner Katzmann

Werner Katzmann (born May 6, 1943 in Vienna , † February 28, 2004 in Mistelbach ) was a marine biologist and pioneer of environmental education in Austria.

He studied biology at the University of Vienna . After receiving his doctorate in 1971, he worked as an assistant at the Zoological Institute of the University of Vienna, and from 1974 as a scientific clerk at the Austrian Federal Institute for Health Care (ÖBIG) in the fields of biology / ecology / applied environmental protection. The habilitation took place in 1985 at the University of Salzburg and he received the license to teach "Environmental Education and Applied Environmental Protection". Since 1995 associate professor, then teaching at the universities in Vienna, Salzburg, Graz and at the scientific state academy in Krems, at the same time extensive publication work on environmental education. From 1980 Austrian delegate of UNESCO for questions of environmental education. From 1985 he was a member of the Federal Government's Ecology Commission.
