Werner Kolhörster
Werner Kolhörster (born December 28, 1887 in Schwiebus ( Świebodzin ), † August 5, 1946 in Munich ) was a German physicist .
From 1935 Kolhörster was a professor in Berlin, where he headed the Institute for Altitude Radiation Research he founded.
In 1913 he confirmed the existence of cosmic rays discovered by Victor Franz Hess in 1912 . In 1928 he demonstrated the particle character of cosmic rays.
In 1929 he developed the coincidence method together with Walther Bothe . In 1940 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
