Karl-Heinz Tesch (born January 23, 1930 in Berlin ; † September 20, 1997 there ) was a German journalist and radio presenter.

The feature author and editor Karl-Heinz Tesch (1930–1997) in a portrait by the Berlin photographer Werner Bethsold in the early 1990s .

Life

After graduating from the Dorotheenstädtische Realgymnasium and the workers and farmers faculty in East Berlin , Tesch studied history at the Humboldt University and did his state examination with a thesis on "German Foreign Policy and the Chinese Revolution of 1913". He then worked as an editor for the Free Press , Berlin and as a journalist for radio in the GDR . From 1962 he worked as an editor, reporter and presenter at Berliner Rundfunk and in 1975 moved to the features department of the main radio drama department, for which he worked as the author of over 50 radio features. His talent for researching and designing realistic original sound features with the portable tape recorder culminated in a series of very atmospheric on-site reports during the period of artificial head stereophony .

After the reunification, Karl-Heinz Tesch built up the features department at Sachsen Radio , later MDR , of which he was head from 1992 to 1994 and which he handed over to Holger Jackisch as his successor.

In 1994 he and Michel Besnier received the Franco-German Journalism Prize .
