Werner Kolter

Werner Kolter (born July 13, 1949 in Unna ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been the full-time mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian district town of Unna since 2004 .

Life

Werner Kolter studied administrative science at the University of Konstanz in the early 1970s . After completing his studies, he worked as a department head for the city of Unna until 1990. From 1991 he was alderman and deputy of the Oberhausen City Director , Burkhard Drescher, for five years . Then he returned to Unna to exercise the function of first alderman of the district town.

Mayor's office

In October 2004 he was elected full-time mayor of the city of Unna as the successor of the CDU mayor Volker W. Weidner in a direct ballot in a runoff election with 62.3 percent of the vote . In the local elections in August 2009 he was re-elected with 65.4 percent of the vote, and in 2015 he was confirmed in office with no opposing candidates.

In Towns and Municipalities of North Rhine-Westphalia Werner Kolter is a member of the Main Committee and the Working Group Mittelstadt.
