Association of cities and municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia

The Association of Cities and Municipalities of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. (StGB NRW) is an amalgamation of 360 municipalities in NRW . It represents more than nine million residents. The association was created in the years 1967 to 1971 through the merger of the regional municipal associations Rheinischer Gemeindetag, Cities and Municipalities Association Westphalia-Lippe and City Association North Rhine-Westphalia. The association is organized as a registered association (AG Düsseldorf, VR 3503).

The Criminal Code of North Rhine-Westphalia sees itself as a service provider and representation of interests for its member municipalities. As a non-profit association, it is independent of government and political organizations. It is financed by contributions from its members and is based in Düsseldorf .

Committees and organs

The general meeting of the Criminal Code of North Rhine-Westphalia takes place twice per municipal election period. The delegates decide, among other things, on changes to the statutes and elect the presidium and the main committee.

The main committee of the StGB NRW consists of 123 representatives of the member communities and decides on the finances of the association.

The Presidium of the StGB NRW determines the political line of the association. It has 39 members - 33 with voting rights, six in an advisory capacity. All organs will be filled in the member municipalities after the results of the NRW municipal elections.

President of the StGB NRW is Roland Schäfer , Mayor of Bergkamen . The first vice president is Eckhard Ruthemeyer , Mayor of Soest . Bernd Jürgen Schneider performs the duties of the general manager. His deputy is the managing director Horst-Heinrich Gerbrand.
