Saarland City and Community Day

The Saarland City and Community Day (SSGT) is the municipal umbrella association in Saarland with its headquarters in Saarbrücken .

Members and duties

The association currently (July 2019) includes all 52 municipalities in the Saarland as full members and three additional extraordinary members. The extraordinary members is the disposal Saar , the retirement pension and supplementary pension fund of the Saarland and the Unfallkasse Saarland .

The tasks of the SSGT include:

  • Maintaining and strengthening local self-government
  • Representation of the interests of Saarland cities and municipalities vis-à-vis the state government, state parliament, administrative authorities and other bodies
  • Advice and information for its members
  • Promotion of the exchange of experiences between the members
  • Encourage understanding for municipal issues and concerns in public

Structure and organs

The association is organized as a registered association and entered in the register of associations at the Saarbrücken district court. According to § 7 of its statutes of March 6, 1980, the SSGT has the following bodies:

  • the general assembly,
  • the presidium and
  • the board.

Memberships

The SSGT is a member of the German Association of Cities and the German Association of Cities and Towns .
