Hessian City Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hessian Association of Cities is one of three central municipal associations in Hesse . The other two are the Hessian Association of Cities and Municipalities and the Hessian District Association . 74 cities and municipalities belong to it, including all independent cities and towns with special status.

The registered association emerged in 1971 from the merger of the Hessian Association of Cities (founded in 1946) and the Hessian Association of Cities . The latter only counted urban districts among its members at that time. A full-time office was set up in Wiesbaden for this occasion . Since 2006, the association has had its headquarters there in the Villa Rettberg together with the Hessian District Association .

Participation at the state level

According to § 147 HGO , the three municipal umbrella organizations are to be involved in the preparation of state legislation which affects the interests of the municipalities and municipal associations. Details are regulated by the law on securing local self-government .
