Werner Konold
Werner Konold (born August 17, 1950 in Heidenheim ) is a German agricultural scientist and was Professor of Land Care at the University of Freiburg from 1997 to 2016 .
Werner Konold studied general agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim from 1970 to 1975 . He received his doctorate in 1983 with the topic "On the ecology of small rivers. Different types of expansion and their evaluation" at the University of Hohenheim and qualified as a professor in 1988 with the topic "Cultural, vegetation and limnological studies on Upper Swabian still waters " . Since March 1997 Konold has been a professor at the Chair for Land Care at the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Science at the University of Freiburg. In 2016 he retired.
His main research interests are the history and ecology of the cultural landscape and its elements, as well as the development of watercourses and the history of hydraulic engineering . He works on integrated concepts for landscapes and nature conservation.
Konold speaker is the German Council for Landscape Management and member of the National Committee of the Man and the Biosphere Program of UNESCO ( biosphere reserves ). Since April 2014 he has been chairman of the Alemannic Institute in Freiburg.
