Werner Korthaase

Werner Korthaase (born May 4, 1937 in Burg (near Magdeburg) , † May 6, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Werner Korthaase attended high school and graduated from high school in 1955 . He studied political science and law as well as economics at the German University of Politics and the Free University of Berlin . In 1958 he joined the SPD and married the later State Secretary Helga Korthaase .

In 1969, Werner Korthaase succeeded Nils Ferberg as director of the Otto Suhr Adult Education Center in the Neukölln district , which he headed for almost thirty years. In the Berlin election in 1971 he was nominated for the Wilmersdorf district in the Berlin House of Representatives voted, after the end of the legislative session , he left in March 1975th In 1992 he founded the German Comenius Society and was chairman of this society for many years. He received his PhD in 1998 at the Karls University in Prague Dr. phil. and became a member of the Leibniz Society of Sciences in Berlin in 2006 .
