Werner Lamby

Werner Johann Lamby (born October 1, 1924 in Oberwörresbach ; † March 21, 2015 in Bonn ) was a German civil servant and manager .

Act

Lamby received his doctorate in 1948 from the law faculty of Heidelberg University . He was a member of the CDU . In the 1960s he was a ministerial advisor in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation . From 1966 to 1967 he was President of the UN World Food Program .

In 1968 Lamby was appointed Ministerial Director in the Federal Ministry of Finance . In the early 1970s he was responsible for the federal government's industrial holdings under Federal Finance Minister Alex Möller . From the federal government he was sent to the Saarbergwerke supervisory board until mid-1974 . Between 1974 and 1990 Lamby acted first as a member, then as spokesman and finally as chairman of the board of the state-owned electricity and aluminum group VIAG AG ; he then remained associated with the company until 1995 as a member of the Supervisory Board.

Lamby was honorary president of the German Society for Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1999 and is the father of TV journalist and producer Stephan Lamby .
