Werner Lehrmann
Werner Lehrmann (born December 6, 1936 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the German Football Association . There he played exclusively for Halleschen FC Chemie and the predecessor club. He is a five-time GDR junior national player.
Athletic career
Lehrmann grew up in Lettin, today a district of Halle (Saale) , and began playing football there in 1948 in the student eleven. In 1951 he moved to BSG Empor Halle . With her he won the GDR championship twice, in 1953 with the B youth and 1955 with the A youth. In 1955, Lehrmann was also used in three internationals of the GDR junior team, in 1956 he played two internationals with the youth national team. After completing school, he completed an apprenticeship as a fitter.
In the summer of 1955, SC Chemie Halle-Leuna, newly founded in 1954, recruited the most successful young players from BSG Empor, among them Werner Lehrmann. Since the SC Chemie had just been relegated from the league, Lehrmann's start in men's football began in the second division. With his 21 goals in the GDR league , he was instrumental in the immediate resurgence. On December 16, 1956, Lehrmann was able to add another success to his young career. The Halle team surprisingly reached the final of the GDR soccer cup as a second division team and surprisingly won the cup with a 2-1 victory over the Oberliga-Sechste Vorwärts Berlin. Lehrmann played as a right half-forward in the final. In the following years Lehrmann experienced the ups and downs of the Halle club: 1958 renewed relegation and restructuring in SC Chemie Halle, 1959 immediate promotion, 1962 second cup win. On June 10, 1962, the final opponent was Dynamo Berlin, Lehrmann was called up as a left half-forward. With his 1-0 in the 21st minute, he initiated the 3-1 victory for Halle. In 1962/63, the SC Chemie reached sixth place, the best placement in Lehrmann's league time, but a year later the team had to relegate again. Again, Lehrmann helped as an accurate shooter with 16 goals in the immediate recovery. In 1966 the Halle club changed again, now taking up the role of Hallescher FC Chemie. Lehrmann played his last league season in 1967/68. Once again he was used in 16 point games and scored the last three goals of his first division career. From 1957 to 1968 he had completed nine seasons in the major league and had come to 180 point games and 46 goals. In 1960 and 1967 he was the top scorer of his team with eleven and nine goals respectively.
From the summer of 1968, Lehrmann kept fit with the 2nd team of the HFC and helped it to advance to the GDR league. In addition, he completed training as a trainer. After graduation, he went back to his former sports association Empor Halle in 1969 and worked there as a player- coach in the district league .
