Career

Werner Lohrer, who grew up in Arosa right next to the Obersee ice rink, learned to play ice hockey together with his brothers Heini and Karl at EHC Arosa . Together with the latter, he played for the first time in the first team in the 1933/34 season as a 16-year-old. While he mostly acted as a striker in the early stages of his career, he was used in defense after his return to EHC Arosa in 1942. In the 1944/45 season he served as a player- coach and in later years as team captain . After the breakthrough of the Arosa Vetter or Waldeck storm with Hans-Martin Trepp , Gebi and Ueli Poltera , Lohrer usually played by their side. One of his specialties was to stab the target with the ice hockey stick while falling.
