Werner Persy (born March 10, 1924 in Trier ; † April 21, 2017 ) was a German painter and graphic artist . He lived and worked in Trier. In 2000, Werner Persy received the Ramboux Prize from his hometown Trier for his life's work.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1942, Werner Persy was drafted into military service in the Air Force that same year. From 1945 to 1951 he studied at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf with Wilhelm Schmurr and Otto Pankok .

Several study visits took him to France , Spain , Italy , Israel , Greece , Hawaii and the Lofoten Islands, among others . Persy is a founding member of the Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst Trier e. V. and the Limes Art Association. His graphics and paintings are in the possession of public and private collections at home and abroad. a. Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Culture, Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, Göppingen Art Collection, Hamburg State Library, Trier City Library, Trier Jewish Community.

He carried out major work at various church and public institutions at home and abroad, u. a. in Rome, Venice, Berlin, Saarbrücken (about the fourteen stations of the cross on the wall of the left aisle of the church of St.Josef as a sgraffito ), Mainz, Trier, Saarburg , Prüm , Dinslaken , Bonn, Munich, Ottobrunn, Boppard, Mülheim-Kärlich, in Switzerland and the USA.

Exhibitions

In addition to numerous solo exhibitions in Trier, Saarbrücken, Mainz, Munich, Osnabrück, Bremen, Berlin, Oberhausen, Paderborn, Gladbeck, Jerusalem, Salzburg, Luxembourg, Gießen and Pirna, he took part in joint exhibitions in Moscow and Podolsk (Russia), Bad Blankenburg and Daun .
