Werner Wehrmeyer

Werner Wehrmeyer (born March 10, 1931 , † April 30, 2010 ) was a German botanist , phycologist , cell biologist and university professor . His botanical author's abbreviation is " Wehrmeyer ".

In 1967, Wehrmeyer was appointed to what was then the Botanical Institute of the Philipps University of Marburg , where he was the first professor to represent the then new cell biology . In 1981 he succeeded Hans-Adolf von Stosch (1908–1987) as the chair of algology .
