Gerd Ebner

Gerd Ebner (born May 30, 1945 in Lavanttal , Carinthia ) is a retired officer in the Austrian Armed Forces , most recently Major General . Most recently he was the military commander of Carinthia.

Life

After elementary school in Wolfsberg, Gerd Ebner attended the Stiftsgymnasium St. Paul , where he graduated in 1964 . After completing the one-year volunteer training from 1965 to 1968, he attended the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt . After his retirement, he was employed as an artillery officer in Feldbach in Styria and in Wiener Neustadt.

1972 to 1975 he was a teaching group officer at the military academy. He then completed the 8th general staff course at the National Defense Academy in Vienna, which he graduated in 1978. Subsequently he was a tactics instructor at the military academy until 1981, later responsible for supplying the 1st Panzer Grenadier Division in Baden near Vienna until 1984 . From 1984 to 1997, Gerd Ebner was also the commander of two general staff courses for six years and chief of staff at the National Defense Academy for six years.

From February 19, 1997 to November 30, 2006 he was military commander of Carinthia, where he was stationed in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. He took over this function from division general Maximilian Liebminger , his successor was Brigadier Gunther Spath .

The officer is also the country manager of the Black Cross .

Private

Gerd Ebner is married, has two children and is engaged in history, baroque music and traveling.
