Werner Wilhelm

Werner Wilhelm (born December 23, 1919 in Neunkirchen ; † November 17, 2006 ) was a German administrative officer and politician ( SPS , SPD ).

Life and work

Wilhelm was born the son of a smelter. After graduating from primary school, he attended evening courses at the commercial school and began an apprenticeship in a law firm in 1934. He emigrated to France in February 1935 , joined the free trade unions a year later and subsequently worked as an unskilled worker, ironworker and crane operator.

After the Second World War , Wilhelm returned to Saarland in December 1946 and worked as a translator for the municipal administration in Neunkirchen from 1947 . Since 1948 he was employed in the internal administration (social welfare office and financial administration). After passing both administrative examinations, he became a municipal official in Neunkirchen in 1956, most recently city inspector. From 1950 to 1960 he was a member of the Saar district board of ÖTV .

Political party

Wilhelm joined the SAJ in 1928 , joined the SPD in 1932 and was a member of the social democratic organization abroad during his emigration. After his return he joined the SPS in 1947, but left it again in 1952. Instead, he became involved in the then illegal SPD state executive committee, was deputy chairman of the Federation of Socialist Youth of Saarland from 1951 to 1956 and became a member of the Saar state executive committee in July 1955 after the SPD was approved. In 1957 he was elected chairman of the SPD sub-district of Ottweiler .

MP

Wilhelm was from 1949 to 1952 and from 1956 to 1960 a member of the district council of the Ottweiler district and from 1956 to 1960 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from September 5, 1958, when he replaced the resigned MP Nikolaus Schreiner , until 1980. He was first drawn into parliament via the Saarland state list and represented the constituency of St. Ingbert from 1969 to 1980 .
