Werner von Eichstedt

Werner Bernhard Franz von Eichstedt (born January 1, 1896 in Saerbeck , † August 26, 1944 killed near Kischinew ) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .

Life

He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on August 18, 1942 as Colonel and Commander of Artillery Regiment 436 of the 132nd Infantry Division . From October 13 to December 24, 1943 he represented Eberhard von Schuckmann as commander of the 387th Infantry Division . He then led the 294th Infantry Division as commander until his death, which was also the day the division was destroyed . In this position he was promoted to major general on March 1, 1944.
