Wernfried Hübschmann (born June 8, 1958 in Regensburg ) is a German poet, essayist, non-fiction author, reciter and coach.

life and work

Wernfried Hübschmann was born in Regensburg / Upper Palatinate and grew up in Donaustauf a. d. Danube on. After a commercial apprenticeship (EH-Kaufmann IHK) and high school diploma on the second educational path, the study of German studies, history and philosophy (MA, University of Regensburg; master's thesis: "No picture is fraud. Style-critical investigations on the lyrical work of Georg Brittings") and The study of speech science / speech training (Dipl.-Speech pedagogue, German Society for Speech Science and Speech Training DGSS ). From 1981–1985 he worked as a freelance journalist for the Mittelbayerische Zeitung and the Würzburg “Drehbühne” and from 1982–1986 worked at the “Small Theater Regensburg” (acting and dramaturgy). Between 1984 and 1990, Hübschmann took on teaching positions at the University of Regensburg in the areas of “Speech Pedagogy” and “German as a Foreign Language DaF”. In the 1980s, Wernfried Hübschmann worked as a freelance editor and reviewer for the C. Bertelsmann Book Club.

From 1994–95, Wernfried Hübschmann was the first managing director of the Society for Contemporary Poetry in Tübingen and head of the Tübingen Lyric Library. Hübschmann has appeared as a reciter and speaker since 1983, and between 1985 and 1992 he organized literary matinées with Barbara Osterkamp at the Museum Leerer Beutel in Regensburg. Several guest appearances as a reciter (programs on Friedrich Hölderlin, Heinrich von Kleist, Georg Büchner, Franz Kafka, Gottfried Benn, Christian Morgenstern, Paul Celan, Ingeborg Bachmann and many others) have taken him to numerous German cities. He organized joint ballad evenings with his sister, the guitarist Wilgard Hübschmann. A long-term cooperation exists with the Dansk Reinhard Institute in Broager / Denmark.

In 1993 (together with Olga Schapiro and Reinhard Nierer) the cultural salon "Berliner Wednesday Society" was founded. In 1994, Hübschmann founded the "Tübingen Wood Market Talks", in 2012 the "Schopfheimer Wednesday Society". Between 2012 and 2015, Wernfried Hübschmann was a member of the board of directors of the free radio station Wiesental (“Hübschmanns Alphabet” editor). Since 1984 he has been a lecturer in professional adult education. For many years he has been working as a consultant in the areas of personnel and organizational development. Since 1997 he has been working independently as an organizational consultant, communication trainer, moderator and systemically trained coach, u. a. in close cooperation with Holger Grimmig.

After the Regensburg years (1979–1992) and the Berlin years (1993–2009), Wernfried Hübschmann has lived with his family in Hebeldorf Hausen in the Wiesental (southern Black Forest) since 2009 .

Publications

Since 1980, Hübschmann has published poems, prose pieces and essays in newspapers, anthologies and literary magazines. a. Edit, ndl, Passauer Pegasus, Neue Sirene, The outside of the element, Exempla, Shell heap, Signum. Occasional translation work from English (including WH Auden) and in cooperation with colleagues using interlinear versions from Russian and Hungarian (Radnóti Miklos).
