Some of the stage destinations are away from localities and can only be reached via access roads, the length of which has not been included in the total length of the Werra-Burgen-Steiges Hessen (X5H).

The altitude meters are around 3,400 "down the Werra" and 3,650 meters "up the Werra". The official division of the X5H into sections sees a start in Hann. Münden and the goal on the Tannenburg near Nentershausen.

Stages: the eleven stages vary around 12.1 km with daily peaks at 20 km in length. The start and end points of the stages are usually easy to reach by public transport and often have a refreshment stop nearby.
