The Vesjolajaberg ( Russian Гора Весёлайа , freely translated: mountain of pleasure ) is a 2385 m high mountain with a pointed peak in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It forms the northern end of the Svarttindane in the southern Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif .
The mountain was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on aerial photographs and measurements was carried out during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and again during a Soviet expedition that lasted from 1960 to 1961. Participants in the latter research trip also gave the mountain its name.
