Wesley Chu

Wesley Chu (朱恆昱) (born September 23, 1976 in Taipei ) is an American science fiction author.

biography

First he grew up with his grandparents in Taiwan, while his parents studied in the USA, then from 1982 with his parents in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1990 the family moved to Chicago. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Management Information Systems and then worked as a consultant and then in banking for ten years. He has appeared in films and on television, and also worked as a stunt man.

Chu's first novel, The Life of Tao , was submitted to British publisher Angry Robot Books in 2011 as part of their “Open Door” process, and was published in 2013. In 2014 he was one of the winners of the Alex Award . Chu has been a full-time writer since 2014. In 2014 and 2015 he was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and won in 2015.

Chu has signed a contract with Angry Robot Books for a new series that will continue the Tao series. Paramount has bought an option on his novel Time Salvager , which Michael Bay is under discussion to adapt. In October 2016 his debut novel Das Leben des Tao was published in German by Fischer Tor, followed in November 2016 with Die Tode des Tao Volume 2 of the trilogy, Die Wiedergeburten des Tao followed.
