West Coast Customs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

West Coast Customs (short: WCC ) is an American manufacturer of special vehicle conversions from Burbank in the US state of California . Ryan Friedlinghaus is the managing director.

Since 1993 WCC has been manufacturing passenger cars that have been individually modified according to customer requirements, and more rarely commercial vehicles. When Fahrzeugtuning it goes this is usually less concerned with the expansion of automotive engineering in the narrower sense (eg. As improving handling characteristics), but rather a visual enhancement in terms of a show car.

Notoriety

Many of her customers are prominent musicians, athletes and actors, including Shaquille O'Neal , Snoop Dogg , Missy Elliott , Pharrell Williams , Justin Bieber and Arnold Schwarzenegger .

The company became known through the TV show " Pimp My Ride " on the American TV station MTV , in which WCC carried out the actual conversion of the vehicles. In more recent episodes of the program, however, WCC is no longer involved, the tuning workshop Galpin Auto Sports was hired for the series. WCC is also no longer located on the company site known from " Pimp My Ride ", but has moved into a much larger hall, a little outside of Corona. Leaving " Pimp My Ride " shouldn't be the end of his TV career. " Inside West Coast Customs ", later just " West Coast Customs " is an auto tuning show in the style of " Orange County Choppers " and has been running since 2011 until today. The first three seasons were produced for the American TV channel Discovery , the rest for Fox Sports 2 .

After branches in Australia , Malaysia and Russia , West Coast Customs opened a store in Dubai in November 2007 .

From September 2008 to the end of 2009 there was a branch in Berlin called “ Street Customs Berlin ”, which was also founded by Ryan Friedlinghaus and which was to be expanded into the European headquarters “ West Coast Customs Europe ”. The car repair shop was located on the premises of a disused railway hall in the Friedrichshain district at Revaler Str. 99. The West Coast Customs team in Germany supposedly comprised 15 people, in Los Angeles there are around 30.

The first prominent customer was world heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko . The bassist of the Bloodhound Gang Evil Jared had the Berlin branch convert a disused articulated bus into a public party bus.

On August 14, 2009, the company submitted its first written application to open bankruptcy, which was rejected by the Berlin District Court on January 13, 2010 due to lack of funds.
