Westerheide ( North Frisian : Waasterhias ) is the name of the western part of the place Nebel on the North Sea island of Amrum in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . In contrast to the villages of Steenodde and Süddorf , Westerheide has no district status. A geographical border between the Nebel town center and Westerheide exists with the national road 215 running in north-south direction. In 1987, 115 inhabitants lived in the district.

history

Westerheide came into being after the Second World War, when the community sold cheap building land in the former heathland . This doubled the population of Nebels. Many of the newcomers use their house as a second home .
