Weymarn (noble family)
Weimarn ( Russian Веймарн , rarely Ваймарн ) is the name of an originally German family. At the end of the 17th century, members of the family moved to Courland , and since then the family has referred to itself as German-Baltic . Initially mainly merchants, members of the family held high ranks in the Russian military in the 18th and 19th centuries . Various branches of the family still exist today.
history
The first documentary evidence of the family mentions an Anton Weimar as a Luebian merchant who emigrated to Arensburg in 1598 . His grandson Anton / Jost Weimar (Weimer) was in 1693 at the request of the Duke of Courland by the Swedish king ennobled .
coat of arms
The family coat of arms shows a black and gold divided shield, a lion in confused colors holding a battle ax. The same lion grows on the helmet from the crown of the crest.
