Friedrich Wilhelm Magnus von Weymarn ( Russian : Веймарн, Фёдор Петрович * March 16, 1831 in Saint Petersburg , † April 20, 1913 in Reval ) was a Russian infantry general who came from a German-Baltic noble family.

Life

origin

Weymarn listened to the nickname Wilhelm and came from the noble family von Weymarn , which had been resident in the Baltic States since the 17th century. Several family members were in Russian and Swedish service. His father was the Russian Lieutenant General Wilhelm Peter Jost von Weymarn (1793-1846), who was married to Christina Augusta Anna von Lüder .

Military career

Weymarns military career began in St. Petersburg Page Corps . In 1848 he served as an ensign in the Preobrazhensk body guard regiment and was promoted to lieutenant in 1850 . For his war service from 1854 to 1855 he was awarded and promoted to captain . In 1856 he became head of personnel for the Guard Reserve Corps, and in 1857 he took over the post of Quartermaster of the 3rd Guard Infantry Division. In 1862 he took over the post of Chief of Staff as a colonel in the 3rd Guard Infantry Division. This was followed in 1864 as Chief of Staff in the Warsaw Guard Department and in the same year he was appointed Wing Adjutant to His Majesty. In 1866 he was promoted to major general and was Chief of Staff of the Finnish Military District until 1869. In 1877 he took over command of the 7th Infantry Division and from 1879 he led the 8th Infantry Division with simultaneous promotion to Lieutenant General . His last rank was general of the infantry. After saying goodbye, he sat down on his property in Hark ( Estonia ).

Wilhelm von Weymarn married Johanna Antonie Auguste Formes (1834-1888) in 1866 and Marie Charlotte Christine von Weymarn (daughter of his brother Constantin Johann Wilhelm Leo von Weymarn (1829-1881)), from this second marriage :

His older brother Alexander later founded the Barclay de Tolly-Weymarn Princely House . Both his first wife and his son Bernhard, who died early at the age of 17 days, were buried in the hereditary funeral of his cousin, Johann von Armstrong , in the Inner Neustädter Friedhof in Dresden.
