Whangape Harbor is a natural harbor in the Northland region ofthe North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Whangape Harbor is located around 25 kilometers south of Kaitaia and about 16 km north of Hokianga Harbor on the west coast of Northland Peninsula . The natural harbor consists of a roughly 3.7 km long canal-like body of water that splits inland into two arms towards the two rivers Awaroa River and Rotokakahi River . From the port entrance, which has a width of around 460 m, the water tapers to a width of 146 m, and after the narrow point, it expands to around 1.7 km in width. The two arms have a length of 2.53 km and 2.15 km. The entire coastline has a length of around 22 km.
You can reach the Whangape Harbor over two highways, of Kaitaia over Herekino and east of New Zealand State Highway 1 over Broadwood .
