Whistleblower-Netzwerk eV is a German non-governmental organization based in Berlin that was founded in 2006. Whistleblower Network offers advice for whistleblowers and organizations. Among other things, the association campaigned for the whistleblower Martin Porwoll , who uncovered the systematic underdosing of cytostatics (anti-cancer drugs ) in the Alte Apotheke in Bottrop , and for Joachim Wedler, who revealed the billing practices of the toll operator Toll Collect . Potential whistleblowers who, in the public interest, have pointed out significant grievances in their workplace or are considering doing so, can contact the voluntary advisory team of the association.

For companies, authorities and NGOs, the whistleblower network offers workshops, training courses and individual advice on internal organizational whistleblowing systems and other compliance measures.

Political commitment

Since it was founded in 2006, the Whistleblower Network has been committed to a better legal framework for whistleblowing and its own German whistleblower protection law. As part of the implementation of the EU directive on whistleblower protection that came into force on December 16, 2019, Whistleblower Network is committed to the comprehensive implementation of the directive in German law. The association calls for the scope of the guideline to be expanded to include national legal violations and has drawn up a catalog of recommendations for implementation.

In 2014, the whistleblower network, together with Campact and Digitalcourage with the campaign "Protection for Edward Snowden in Germany", called for the whistleblower Edward Snowden to testify personally to the NSA investigative committee , to grant him protection in Germany and to advocate comprehensive whistleblower protection. The association campaigns for the release of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and against his extradition to the USA. Educational work

Whistleblower Network conducts analog and digital workshops for schools and other educational institutions with which the association would like to raise awareness of the subject of whistleblowing.

Members

The registered association was co-founded by the whistleblower Guido Strack and is recognized as a non-profit organization. Strack was an official at the Publications Office of the European Union in Luxembourg and in 2002 drew attention to financial irregularities in the Office's cooperation with a private company.

The five-person executive board consists of Detlev Böttcher, Robert Bungart, Annegret Falter, Markwart Faussner and Thomas Holbach. The extended board includes Lothar Hausmann, Ingo Karras, Johannes Ludwig and Martin Porwoll .
