White list
A white list (in English whitelist to whitelist or whitelist ) also positive list or a general exception list called, referred to in the information technology - as opposed to a blacklist - a tool that allows the same elements (such as persons, companies or programs ) which, in the opinion of the author of the list, are trustworthy.
software
If an organization maintains a software whitelist, only the titles on that list will be accepted for use. Problems can arise if a user needs software in the course of his work that has not been approved by the organization.
If a spam filter contains a white list, this means that e-mails from the listed people will always be accepted.
health
Another white list exists in the health sector (called the white list in this writing). It offers patients support in finding the closest or most suitable hospital, doctor or dentist.
background
The Bertelsmann Foundation and patient and consumer organizations are behind the project . The Federal Government's Patient Commissioner, Karl-Josef Laumann , is the project's patron. The health insurances AOK and Barmer GEK extended the project to medical practices in May 2011.
Scope of services
The first step in the search in the “White List” is the “Diagnosis Interpreter”, with which the patient can read a medical diagnosis in easily understandable German.
In the second step, a hospital search is carried out. The “white list” provides patients with information on a nearby and medically suitable hospital . To do this, the seekers enter their diagnosis and other data, such as the greatest permissible distance from their place of residence, into a search mask.
Both the hospitals' own quality reports and patient questionnaires are evaluated to compile the results. While the official quality reports contain facts and figures about the clinics, such as the number of beds and operations, and data on the qualification of their doctors and the success of their treatments, the questionnaires are aimed at the experiences of the patients: They should assess the professional competence that Assess the relationship with doctors and nurses, the service, the success of the treatment and, above all, their willingness to recommend the hospital to others. However, there is no classification of the clinics, rather the “white list” is intended to help patients choose a clinic based on personal criteria.
The Scientific Institute of the AOK provides information on the quality of results for eight clinical pictures, with a rough classification with one to three trees of life and risk-adjusted standardized mortality and morbidity values for individual complications.
A personal advisory service complements the offer. According to its own information, the “Weisse Liste” cooperates with the Independent Patient Advice Germany (UPD) for advice over the phone .
Media education
A project supported by politics is promoting a white list of offers for children. The address is: fragFINN.de.
Species protection
As a counterpart to the red list of extinct species, a white list of non-threatened species is offered regionally for Lower Saxony and Saxony (species protection in Lower Saxony and Saxony).
Lower Saxony is the region with the largest number of farm animals in production (mammals, poultry and fish) in Germany.
Review portals
A white list of ratings on the Internet is kept for handling deletion and change requests for data storage on the Internet by people and companies. The criteria processing time, type of reaction, type of contribution processing and reaction to repeated reports of deletion requests are evaluated.
