The Whitmill Nunatak is a 1300 m high nunatak in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 8 km south-southwest of the Smith Nunatakker in the western part of the Grossman Nunatakker .
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1961 and 1968. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1987 after Leland D. Whitmill, mapmaker of the USGS and member of the exploration teams of the survey for surveying the Byrd and Darwin glaciers in East Antarctic Victoria Land (1978–1979).
