Whole New Thing is a 2005 Canadian drama film directed by Amnon Buchbinder .
action
The film is an unconventional coming-of-age tale about a 13-year-old boy, Emerson Thorsen. Emerson lives in a secluded straw bale house with his ecologically minded parents Rog and Kaya. Kaya decides that the home tuition that Emerson has received so far does not give him enough structure and enrolls him in the local school. Emerson, who previously had a very intellectual view of sexuality and love, must now recognize the problems that arise when one suddenly feels an unrequited attraction to another. Especially when the target of attraction is the 43 year old teacher.

Reviews
"A light, astute [...] film."
"Solid, but conventionally developed coming-out story that merely varies familiar clichés without developing persuasiveness or drama."
“The Canadian director and screenwriter Amnon Buchbinder, full-time professor of film and video, weaved a bizarre tragic comedy with clever dialogues from the sexual confusions of a teenager, from lies and games of hide and seek. Weird: Newcomer Aaron Webber as a lovable nerve bolt. A pleasure and frustration game that leaves the audience with the question: And what has become of your ideals? "
