Wicko Wielkie

The Wicko Wielkie [ ˈvitskɔ ˈvʲelkʲɛ ] (German: Großer Vietziger See ) is a body of water in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It is often referred to as a lake, but in fact it is a bay in the north of the Szczecin Lagoon , which is connected to the lagoon at its southern end near Lubin ( Lebbin ) via a narrow strait about 400 meters wide.

The Wicko Wielkie is surrounded in the east by the island Wolin ( Wollin ) and in the north by the Przytór ( Pritter ) peninsula belonging to this . In the northeast there is a bay of Wicko Wielkie with the elongated Wicko Małe ( Little Vietziger See ). In the southwest, the Wicko Wielkie is connected to the back delta of the Old Swine (Stara Świna ) via several side arms . The islands (Werder) between these arms are nature reserves , e.g. B. Wydrza Kępa ( Treumanns Wiese ), Koński Smug ( Stallion Meadow ), Warnie Kępy ( Warnitzwiesen ), Gęsia Kępa ( Behrens-Holm ), Wiszowa Kępa ( Reed Island ) and Trzcinice Islands ( Rohrhalter Islands ).
