Widukind Herrmann

Widukind Herrmann (born May 7, 1936 in Mühlhausen ; † January 18, 2011 in Leipzig ) was a German football referee and referee official.

From 1974 to 1985 he headed 104 games of the GDR league for BSG Motor Lindenau and was also FIFA referee at the European Championships in Italy in 1980 from 1980 to 1985 (including three international A matches). In 1979 he whistled the FDGB-Pokal final between 1. FC Magdeburg and BFC Dynamo (1-0 afterwards) in front of 50,000 spectators in the World Youth Stadium in Berlin and was involved as a line judge in the 1984 and 1985 finals .

From 1978 to 1989 he was chairman of the referee committee of the Leipzig district technical committee , after the fall of the Wall until 2007 of the Leipzig City Football Association. For his services, the Leipziger received the plaque of honor of the German Football Association and in 2001 the badge of honor of the Saxon Football Association eV in gold.

He found his final resting place in the Leipzig-Schönefeld cemetery.
