As in heaven

Like on earth (original title: Så ock på jorden ) is a Swedish film by Kay Pollak . The film is the sequel to As in Heaven  (2004). The cinema release in Germany was on December 3, 2015.

action

Since after the death of the star conductor Daniel Daréus in the previous film nobody leads the church choir anymore, the church remains empty more and more often, and Pastor Stig gives in to alcohol. When, contrary to all circumstances, he and Lena, the friend of the deceased, gave birth to the child they had conceived with Daniel, he had the idea: Lena should continue Daniel's work. An anniversary concert with the performance of Handel's Hallelujah is to fill the pews again. Lena actually takes over the leadership of the church choir. Similar to Daniel, she also uses unusual methods and attaches importance to the fact that the choir is open to all interested parties. Lena and her choir, for example, have the pews removed to make space for dances. It also calls envious and adversaries on the scene, especially the organist actually commissioned by the bishop for the anniversary concert. Above all, the dutiful Siv railed at the head of the church council, but the music-loving churchgoers were taken with the energetic woman, especially the migrant worker Axel is enthusiastic about Lena. Lena succeeds in filling the church again, with which she can also convince the pastor of her ideas.

criticism

The film service judges that the "rather long-drawn-out dramatic comedy moves narrative and dramaturgically in the footsteps of its predecessor, whereby the schematic structure becomes clear". In doing so, "the film is increasingly fraying [dramaturgically] and revolves around the message, like a mantra, that music connects and love is the power for reconciliation."
