Wieland Satter (* 1968 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German opera and concert singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

Wieland Satter first studied flute and choir conducting at the Frankfurt University of Music and then at the Weimar University of Music .

He made his debut at the Landestheater Linz in 1998 as Blazes in Der Leuchtturm by Peter Maxwell Davies . Through engagements at the Landestheater Niederbayern and the Theater Hof , his artistic path led in 2005 to the Opera of the State Theater in Nuremberg . Here, alongside Kaspar in Weber's Freischütz , Dulcamara in Love Potion and Doctor Bartolo in The Barber of Seville, outstanding successes were achieved.

Other roles at various houses included a. Philipp in Don Carlo , Mephisto in Faust , Zacharia in Nabucco , Boris in Boris Godunow and finally Orestes in Elektra . Engagements took him nationally to Aachen, Bielefeld, Kassel, Kaiserslautern, Cologne, Münster, Regensburg, Stuttgart and internationally to Bozen, Ferrara, Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Lyon, Modena, Moscow, Beijing, Piacenza and the Bregenz Festival.

In addition to the Russian subject - he sang Ruslan in Ruslan and Lyudmila and Mazeppa in Mazeppa alongside Boris - Richard Wagner is now a focus. The highlight of his career so far was the title role in The Flying Dutchman at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, directed by Peter Konwitschny .
