Viennese piano trio

The Vienna Piano Trio ( Vienna Piano Trio ) is an Austrian chamber music ensemble .

history

The ensemble was founded in 1988 by Wolfgang Redik ( violin ), Marcus Trefny ( violoncello ) and Stefan Mendl ( piano ). Since 2006, the Vienna Piano Trio has designed its own cycle every season in the Mozart Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus for the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft.

The trio's discography includes recordings of all piano trios by Johannes Brahms , Antonín Dvořák , Franz Schubert , Heinrich von Herzogenberg , as well as piano trios by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Joseph Haydn , Pjotr ​​Iljitsch Tchaikovsky , Bedřich Smetana , Arnold Schönberg , Alexander Zemlinsky , Maurice Ravel , Robert Schumannsky , Arnold Schönberg, Camille Saint-Säens and Ludwig van Beethoven . The Viennese piano trio has performed on concert tours in London's Wigmore Hall , the Amsterdam Concertgebouw , the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.

Awards

The Viennese piano trio has received various awards, including the Echo Klassik Prize 2017 (Brahms: Klaviertrios Vol.1) and the Gramophone Editor's Choice (for Tchaikovsky) or the Pasticcio Prize of the radio station Ö1 (for Herzogenberg and Brahms).
