Wiesław Woda

Wiesław Woda (born August 17, 1946 in Paleśnica in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship ; † April 10, 2010 in Smolensk , Russia ) was a Polish politician, civil servant, agricultural engineer and member of the Sejm of the X., III., IV., V. and VI. Electoral term .

Life

After studying at the Agricultural University of Cracow , Woda was school inspector from 1973 to 1975 and chairman of the Voivodeship Agricultural Administration in Cracow from 1975 to 1987 . He had a seat on the Krakow City Council from 1976 to 1988. From 1987 to 1990 he was Vice President of Cracow. Subsequently, Woda was voivode in the former Krakow voivodeship for several years . For two years he headed the Cracow Office of the Agricultural Property Agency of the State Treasury (Agencja Własności Rolnej Skarbu Państwa) . From 1994 to 1997 he was voivode in the Tarnów Voivodeship .

Woda was the first member of the Sejm from 1989 to 1991 in the 10th electoral period for the United People's Party (Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe , ZSL for short ) . From 1991 to 1993 he was a member of the State Tribunal (Trybunał Stanu) . Since 1997 Woda has been a member of the Polish Peasant Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) without interruption . In the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2007 he was elected for the fifth time, where he received 13,365 votes in the Tarnów constituency.

From July 2007 to March 2009, Woda formed the Public Service Council (Rada Służby Publicznej) under the Prime Minister. On April 2, 2009 he was appointed to the Council for Community Service (Rada Służby Cywilnej) . In the V. and VI. He was deputy chairman of the Polish- Taiwanese parliamentary group (Polsko-Tajwański Zespół Parlamentarny) .

On April 10, 2010, Wiesław Woda was part of a Polish delegation led by President Lech Kaczyński , who was to travel to the memorial in Russia on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre . However, in a plane crash of the delegation near the Smolensk-Nord military airfield , he was killed along with other high-ranking representatives of Poland.

Posthumously Woda was the Commander's Cross of the 16 April 2010 Order of Polonia Restituta (Krzyź Komandorski Orderu Rebirth of Poland) awarded.
