Wiesen ( Italian Prati ) is the capital and a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Pfitsch in the north of South Tyrol . The village lies at the entrance to the Pfitscher valley . Since Wiesen used to be an independent municipality and was only merged with the old Pfitsch municipality in 1931, the municipality is still often called Wiesen-Pfitsch today.
The Sterzing-Pfitsch train station and the first biogas plant in South Tyrol are located in Wiesen.
