Viktor Ivanovych Hwosd (born May 24, 1959 Ternopil Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian lieutenant general , diplomat and until 2017 head of the Ukrainian foreign intelligence service Sluschba zownischnjoji roswidky Ukrajiny .

From 1996 to 1999, Hwosd was a defense attaché at the Ukrainian Embassy in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina . From 2000 to 2003 he was a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations in New York and a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the United Nations Security Council .

Since February 24, 2014, he has been the representative of the Ukrainian parliament to monitor the activities of the intelligence services in Ukraine and since February 27, 2014 head of the Ukrainian foreign intelligence service and since December 15, 2014 a member of the National Security Council of Ukraine .

He is an Honored Lawyer of Ukraine and holder of the Ukrainian Order of Merit, Third Class.

Besides Ukrainian and Russian, Hwosd speaks English, Croatian, Serbian and Chinese fluently, is married and has two children.
