Wildhau
The Wildhau is a contiguous forest area in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .
It is located in the far east of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in the areas of the municipalities of Burgsalach and Raitenbuch . The Wildhau lies on a plateau in the middle of the Weißenburger Alb , a mountain range of the Franconian Alb . In the south the forest merges into the Raitenbucher forest , in the west into the Weißenburger Stadtwald . Not far to the north is the town of Burgsalach, to the east is Raitenbuch and to the west Oberhochstatt . The Laubental runs to the west .
The Wildhau is criss-crossed by some corridor paths. By Wildhau running trail Limesweg and Cycle German Limes-cycle path . A Roman road and the Upper German-Raetian Limes led through the forest . The forest is located within the Natural Park Altmühltal in a conservation area . The small fort "In der Harlach" is located on the western edge of the forest area . There are several burial mounds in the forest .
