The Weißenburger Alb is up to 620  m above sea level. NHN high, central northern part of the southern Franconian Jura in the Central Franconian districts of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . It is named after the district town of Weißenburg in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district.

The Weißenburger Alb represents the northern spur on the Albtrauf of the southern Franconian Alb with the Altmühltal nature park between the Altmühl in the west and the Schwarzach in the east.

In general, the name is sometimes only understood to mean that part of the landscape belonging to the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district , excluding the east in the Roth district . To the south-east, on both sides of the Altmühltal, the Eichstätter Alb connects , the extent of which is mostly limited to the Eichstätt district .

Forest and valley landscape
