The Rohrberg is a 603.4  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Weißenburger Alb , part of the low mountain range Franconian Alb . With a peak in the municipality of Höttingen, it is located near Weißenburg in Bavaria in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ). The Bismarck tower of Weißenburg stands on the mountain .

The Rohrberg rises in the Altmühltal Nature Park . Its summit is 2 km south of the Höttinger core town and 3 km northeast of the Weißenburg old town . Localities on the mountain are: Höttingen and its district of Weiboldshausen in the north, Weißenburg in Bavaria in the southwest with the districts or residential areas of Hagenbuch and Hohenmühle in the southwest, Rohrwalk and Gänswirthshaus in the south and Niederhofen in the east-southeast. The Ettenstatter districts Rohrbach and Auhof in the northeast are a bit away .

The Bösbach (Klingenbach, Rohrbach) flows south past the Rohrberg ; beyond it rise the Wülzburger Berg and Laubbichel . The Bösbach flows into the Felchbach , which runs north of the mountain and is fed by the Frommbach, which rises near the mountain , which in turn flows into the Swabian Rezat, which flows west of the mountain shortly afterwards .

The Bismarck Tower , completed in 1911 and used as a lookout tower, stands on the Rohrberg at around 530  m above sea level . Bundesstraße 2 leads past the mountain to the west .

Natural allocation

The Rohrberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the subunit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Weißenburger Alb (082.26). The landscape falls to the north, west and south into the natural area foreland of the Weißenburger Alb (110.32), which in the main unit group Franconian Keuper-Lias-Land (11) and in the main unit foreland of the southern Franconian Jura (110) to the subunit Weißenburger Bucht ( 110.3) counts.

Protected areas

On the south-east flank of the Rohrberg and on the south-west flank of the neighboring Höhenberg to the east lies the nature reserve Quellhorizonte and Magerrasen am Albtrauf near Niederhofen ( CDDA no. 165066; designated in 1990; 44.59  hectares in size). On the mountain there are parts of the conservation zone in the Altmühltal Nature Park (CDDA no. 396115; 1995; 1632.9606  km² ) and parts of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Trauf of the southern Franconian Jura (FFH no. 6833-371; 43 , 2442 km²).
