Spring horizons and poor grassland on the Albtrauf near Niederhofen is a nature reserve with the file number NSG-00275 in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

It is located north of Niederhofen , approx. Four kilometers east of Weißenburg and extends in a semicircle on the southern slopes of the Schafberg , a secondary summit of the Rohrberg and the Höhenberg at an altitude of 460 to 590 m. With an area of ​​around 44.9 hectares, the nature reserve is the second largest in the district. It stretches over about three kilometers in length and on average less than a hundred meters wide. In 2000 the original pastures were restored. The species of the area include the globe flower and several species of crickets and butterflies . The area is characterized by grasslands , hedges , small parceled fields, old grass tendrils, deciduous forests and several spring outlets as well as fens . It was designated as a nature reserve on July 2, 1986. Geologically, it lies on iron sandstone , Opalinus Clay and Malm limestone .
