The dam of the Igelsbachsee is a nature reserve in the Central Franconian districts of Roth and Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

It is located in the Spalter hill country about one kilometer north of Absberg in the districts Absberg, Kalbensteinberg and Enderndorf and covers an area of ​​25.16  hectares . Since January 25, 1989 it has been registered as a nature reserve under the file number NSG-00345.01.

The reservoir root, which gives it its name, is shielded from the actual Igelsbachsee by a dam . The water surface was created in the course of the Franconian Lake District . Alder and willow trees as well as reeds , large sedge and tall herbaceous fields dominate the banks . The western part of the area is formed by a biotope made up of silting zones , remains of alder forest and fallow land . Over 100 different bird species could be detected here.
